Taksim Republic Monument
Located in Taksim Square, the monument was created by the Italian sculptor Pietro Canonica, with the help of two young Turks, Hadi (Bara) Bey and Sabiha (Bengütaş) Hanım. It was completed in 1928. The pedestal and surrounding layout of the monument were designed by architect Giulio Mongeri. The monument was inaugurated on August 8, 1928.
